The organic matcha "Chado" (Japanese for "tea way", referring to the traditional Japanese tea ceremony) is an authentic Japanese matcha of true ceremonial quality from the first plucking of the youngest tea leaves and is cultivated in the heart of Japan in the Mie prefecture.
The slow sprouting of the tea plant after winter makes the tea more nutrient-rich and results in an L-theanine content up to three times higher than in teas harvested later.
L-theanine gives first-harvest matcha a special sweetness and has antispasmodic, anxiolytic properties. The long shading period gives Chado matcha a particularly intense, deep green color and an extra-high content of secondary plant compounds.
This matcha, as traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony, offers a rich, subtly bitter taste and is rich in catechins, carotenes and vitamins A, B, C and E.
