Tea set - Cha Dao utensils made of bamboo

Traditional bamboo tea set.

The tea set for Gong Fu Cha, Chinese "Cha Dao",

consists of:

• Teaspoon
• Tea tongs
• Tea thorn
• Tea spatula

The loose tea is portioned from the serving dish into the teapot or gaiwan using a tea spoon.

If the tea is in the form of loose leaves, the tea spoon is rather unsuitable for portioning and instead the tea spatula is used to "push" the leaves from the bowl into the teapot.

To prevent any spillage during filling, the tea funnel is placed on the teapot.

Tea tongs are used to handle and move teacups and smelling cups, as these can become so hot from the hot water that they can no longer be touched with bare fingers.

Finally, the tea awl is used to clear the spout of the teapot, should any tea leaves have become stuck in it.
